Sitting is being compared to smoking; we all know that excessive sedentary habits are causing us a low quality of life. By incorporating the chair as a prop in yoga, not only do we learn how to "sit" properly, we learn that it is our everyday activities, that hurt us. Chair yoga is low-impact and strengthening at the same time. This practice can benefit the stressed-out employee that is hunching over their desk every day, or adaptable to a more fragile physical body that is recovering from illness and/or surgery. Chair yoga emphasizes spine health for optimal wellness.
Your space needs to be reserved, as we have limited chairs.
My goal as a Yoga Therapist is to personalize yoga to the individual and to coach my clients to find their balance in their daily lives. As someone who has suffered from anxiety, low self-esteem, high stress situations and a multitude of physical challenges, I have learned that everyday stresses become embedded in the body if tension is not released. This blocked energy results in dis-ease and disrupts the mind and body, threatening our life force. Small changes make big transformations and if we can empower the mind and the heart, the body will follow.
