Message from Raja Michelle, founder of Green Tree Yoga Meditation Foundation/The Tree South LA

When I founded the then "Green Tree" in 2012, I couldn't possibly imagine the extent of the impact that would be made and the thriving community that was to be found...

I want to thank everyone who has shaped and contributed to this journey: the teachers, students, donors, vendors, board, staff and guests. You kept our space alive these last eight years. It has been my honor to teach, share in the healing, and build community with you all. I have gained so many new friends and family throughout these years. The Tree has been such a special place for all of us. I am so proud to usher in the next generation of leadership for The Tree and to see all the work we've done continue with their guidance. I know that our new Tree Yoga COOP will continue the magic, the healing, and the revolution.

While I will be stepping down from my leadership role at The Tree, I will continue to serve through educating about systems of White Supremacy and the Patriarchy. At this time I will be stepping away from teaching Yoga, yet always remain a student of the practice.

Throughout this challenging year, I have missed seeing all your faces and that oh so special post-class feeling of community. There is nothing like it. I hope to soon see your mat six feet closer to mine, taking classes in our future space, being led with our new leadership and expanding the community in South Los Angeles together.
